Mission-Driven Company Audit
In one of our previous articles, we shared the news that terre d'Oc had become a Mission-Driven Company, marking a major milestone in our company's journey.
We were pioneers in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, becoming the first company in the department to adopt this status, the seventh in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region and the first industrial company in the region to do so.
Today, more than 1,200 companies have embraced this new status, and we are proud to see this community continue to grow, committing—as we have—to a more sustainable future. For us, this commitment means caring for the planet, for people, for our employees, suppliers, customers, and for everyone connected with our company.
Two years have already passed…
Two years have already passed, bringing with them many achievements and significant progress in the management and governance of our Mission-Driven Company.
One of our key milestones has been the creation of a clear and structured roadmap bringing together all our environmental, social and societal objectives. This roadmap is shared with every employee, each of whom is assigned an annual objective linked to our mission. These objectives are tailored to each person's role within the company and are regularly monitored and evaluated.
As a result, working towards these commitments has become a natural part of our company culture. This approach encourages collaboration across teams, strengthens employee engagement and fosters positive leadership. It also enhances our brand image and reinforces our reputation as a committed and responsible company.

"Building resilience means embracing transformation without fear, even when that transformation is profound. If the challenge is to find the resources needed to face the changes taking place around us, it is also about building a fairer, more supportive and regenerative world—one that is caring, inclusive and democratic, where the relationship between people and the living world is reimagined and embedded in society. Every day, I see women and men driven by this shared ambition to help create that new world, bringing change to life within their own communities. This is exactly what terre d'Oc, its leadership and its employees are doing. By adopting the Mission-Driven Company status, they have found a supportive framework that enables them to contribute, at their own scale, to this collective ambition. I am truly delighted to be part of this journey alongside them. It is a meaningful way to align my convictions with my actions by dedicating my energy to a project that is both valuable and exemplary."
Pascal MAYOL, President of the Environment and Nature Group at the French Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE), Ecological Engineer, Associate Expert to the Scientific Council of the Foundation for Nature and Humankind, and Honorary President of Ecoscience Provence.
"I believe this demonstrates our genuine commitment, and I feel very proud to be part of it. It brings greater transparency and a real sense of accountability. It also encourages us to carry out every mission-related action with rigour and to continually reflect on the processes that help us achieve our objectives."
Brice, Operations, Information Systems & Security Manager at terre d'Oc.
A Favourable Opinion…
These social and environmental commitments are independently assessed by a Third-Party Organisation (TPO) two years after a company officially adopts Mission-Driven Company status. In our case, the audit was carried out in June 2023 by RSE France. You can read our Mission Report here. Following this assessment, we received a Favourable Opinion, confirming that we are fulfilling the statutory objectives that form the foundation of our mission.
In practical terms, the audit has also strengthened the governance of our Mission Committee. Its members are becoming increasingly involved, raising relevant strategic questions and constructively challenging the directions we take and the indicators we monitor. These meaningful discussions encourage us to think even more deeply about the initiatives we undertake and how we continue to fulfil our mission.
Our Mission Committee also challenged us to be more selective, encouraging us to focus on actions and indicators that generate the greatest impact. This led to the development of a new Mission Roadmap for 2023, built around five key pillars:
Pillar 1: Create responsible wellness products through an eco-design approach while building a community of consumers who share our purpose.
- Promote organic and natural ingredients, as well as lower-impact packaging.
- Encourage collective intelligence to support eco-design.
- Build a community of consumers and customers who share our purpose.
- Develop eco-designed products that meet the key sustainability criteria of our main customer.
Pillar 2: Promote ethical organic sourcing through local supply chains while supporting small-scale producers in France and around the world.
- Assess our suppliers' CSR strategies and integrate them into our selection process.
- Strengthen our knowledge of raw materials and develop formulations in-house.
- Increase sourcing through fair trade partnerships.
- Prioritise local sourcing (France and Provence).
- Increase the proportion of organic ingredients in our home fragrance collections.
Pillar 3: Protect our planet by reducing our carbon footprint, promoting recycled materials and improving waste recovery.
- Redesign the packaging of our herbal tea collections to reduce their environmental impact.
- Maximise rail freight transport and reduce the use of air freight.
- Carry out our carbon footprint assessment.
- Improve energy efficiency.
- Increase the proportion of waste that is recovered and develop second-life solutions for products.
Pillar 4: Highlight and support women, both locally and around the world, through our products and communications.
- Support the women's producer groups we work with.
- Donate our 1% for the Planet contribution to projects led by or benefiting women.
- During our employee volunteering day, whenever possible, support an association founded by women or working for women's causes.
Pillar 5: Promote employee well-being by providing a positive working environment, supporting work-life balance and developing skills.
- Measure employee well-being through our internal satisfaction survey.
- Establish and share a clear annual training plan.
- Deliver our Mission Roadmap together with all employees.
- Share our CSR expertise and support organisations across our region.
- Promote our local region of fragrances and flavours.
- Ensure the safety and security of our company and the surrounding community.
The next steps
Our next steps are clear: to keep listening, sharing, improving and driving new ideas that help us achieve these ambitions naturally, while continuing to create and manufacture beautiful, high-quality and wholesome products that remain true to our founding values.
Corporate Social Responsibility is part of our DNA. We are committed to caring for the planet and the people who inhabit it. We believe in the power of women's empowerment and sisterhood to help build a more sustainable future.
terre d'Oc – Born from the Talent of Women.
