How Tea Can Help Reduce Stress
How Can You Combat Stress?
During these stressful and anxiety-inducing times, when stress feels overwhelming and anxiety weighs heavily on your mind, do not hesitate to introduce tea rituals into your daily routine. These comforting moments can guide and reassure you, helping to soothe both body and mind while easing feelings of sadness and helplessness. Take a moment to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the present through mindfulness.
Focus only on the simple rituals of preparing your tea, one gesture at a time...
Choose the teapot that suits you best, along with your favorite tea. Fill the kettle with filtered water and wait for the first gentle bubbles to appear for white or green tea, or for larger rolling bubbles in the case of black tea. Measure out the tea leaves, allow them to infuse, and take a moment to breathe in their warm, aromatic fragrance before pouring your tea...
You begin to relax and release the tension from every muscle in your body. Your back and neck feel looser and less strained. Sit comfortably, put on some music you love, and slowly savor your tea. As you do, your anxiety starts to fade, your breathing becomes calmer, and feelings of anger and sadness gradually drift away...
When Is the Best Time to Drink Tea?
In the morning, right after waking up, make your first wellness and beauty ritual a large mug of preferably plain organic green tea (such as Sencha or Matcha). It helps hydrate and detoxify the body while supporting a healthy metabolism. Green tea is also known for its beneficial effects on the skin.
During the morning, choose an organic white tea, whose delicate buds contain a high concentration of antioxidant polyphenols that can help combat fatigue and promote overall well-being.
At lunchtime, after your meal, instead of the traditional coffee, try a full-bodied black tea (such as Sublime Yunnan or Chai Masala) or a semi-fermented oolong tea. Their stimulating properties can help support concentration and memory while providing the boost of energy and vitality often appreciated after lunch.
In the evening, after dinner, opt instead for a caffeine-free herbal infusion. Choose a soothing and relaxing blend made with hawthorn, chamomile, and meadowsweet to help you unwind and drift off to sleep more easily, or indulge in a delicious rooibos infused with mango or gentle spices.
Does Tea Make You Nervous?
The tannins naturally present in tea and released during the brewing process help moderate the effects of caffeine on the body.
The shorter the infusion time, the higher the caffeine content in your cup. So, if you're looking for an invigorating and energizing tea to give your day a boost, don't hesitate to opt for a shorter brewing time!
Does Tea Keep You Awake?
If you are sensitive to caffeine, it is best to avoid drinking tea in the afternoon and evening. You can also try the following tip: brew the tea briefly once and discard that first infusion, then prepare a second infusion and drink only that one. A portion of the caffeine will have been released during the first infusion, resulting in a milder cup.
